Installing

Open the downloaded .dmg and drag CornerCal into Applications.
Open CornerCal once. macOS will say it "can't verify the developer." Correct, and expected — see below.
Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security, scroll down, and click Open Anyway next to CornerCal.
Enter your password and click Open in the confirmation dialog.
Allow Calendar access when CornerCal asks — it needs this to work at all.

Not notarized: notarizing costs $99/year for an Apple Developer account, and this is a free app made by a student. Prefer Terminal? Skip the clicking: xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/CornerCal.app

FAQ

Is this safe? macOS just yelled at me. Yes — the yelling is Apple's developer fee, not a virus scan.
Why isn't it on the App Store? Also gated behind $99/year. This site is the whole distribution strategy.
Will it email me, track me, or sell my calendar to advertisers? It doesn't use the internet, so no.
Does it work with Google Calendar / iCloud / my school's Exchange account? If it's already in the macOS Calendar app, yes.
